Our learners had a visit from the Safer Schools Police Unit and the Safer Neighbourhoods Police Unit as part of our People Who Help Us module. The aim of the visit was to teach our learners that if they are ever alone or scared that the uniformed officers patrolling the streets are people that they can trust. We split the officers into two teams.
Team 1 were stationed in the school hall where they completed an activity with the classes. The activity involved our learners using symbols to pick out the uniformed officer from our staff in a line-up. This will help our learners to pick out the officers out in their neighbourhoods.
The other set of officers were out in the car park as they had brought a police van and police car for the kids the go in and explore! Flashing lights and sirens alerted the neighbours to our fun day!
